Arsenal are weighing up a bid for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, according to Tuttomercatoweb. The Italian website believes that if they do sign the Belgian striker, they may be willing to negotiate with Juventus over the sale of Alexis Sanchez.
Considering how different the two players are in terms of role and style, I seriously doubt that one is predicated on the other happening. Arsene Wenger has been more flexible in recent years by using a target man centre forward in Olivier Giroud. Benteke is more mobile and more explosive than the Frenchman, and also has managed to score more league goals (19) in one Premier League season than the French international.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Reds owners Fenway Sports Group want to recoup most of the money they shelled out on the player last summer and expect any club to meet their £30million asking price. Whether Arsenal or any other club are prepared to do this, we shall see.
