Local Italian newspaper Il Tempo believes that Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign Antonio Rudiger from Roma. The German international only completed his permanent move from Stuttgart a couple of days ago after a season long loan a the club but it is believed the Serie A side want to offload the player straight away to make a profit on his sale.

Liverpool have also been linked with the player in recent weeks but the Rome based newspaper believes that Chelsea have already started negotiations regarding the transfer as they look to bolster the centre of their defence.

New Blues boss Antonio Conte, currently managing Italy in preparation for the European Championships, will know the qualities of Rudiger since the 23 year old was a regular starter for Roma in Serie A, making 37 appearances last campaign. The centre half will be at the Euros himself with Germany after being named in Joachim Loew’s final 23 for the tournament in France.
