Palermo attacking midfielder Franco Vazquez has admitted that he will almost certainly be departing the Italian club this summer.

The Italian international, who is a naturalised Argentinian, is available for €25million after club chairman Maurizio Zamparini confirmed the player was for sale. Liverpool were linked to the player in late May by the Corriere Dello Sport but it looks as though Tottenham is the most likely destination for the player after Palermo confirmed they are in contact with Spurs. Surprisingly however, it is actually West Brom who are the only club so far to have a bid rejected for the player earlier this week. Vazquez confirmed the bid when speaking to Mediagol (quotes translated by the International Business Times):

“I will leave Palermo, my future will be 100% far away from Sicily. I can confirm the words of the club president, I have no preference between Italy and the Premier League, I want to consider all offers. My agent is taking care of my future. I do know if my next team will be Tottenham or Chelsea. I just received an offer from West Brom that was rejected by Palermo.”

Vazquez scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 38 games last season, helping Palermo to a sixteenth place finish in Serie A, and at 27 years of age, he is now heading into the peak years of his career.
