Neven Subotic’s agent has revealed that his client is looking to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer to get more game time.

Frieder Gramm is quoted by Sport Bild as saying that the Serbian defender does not want to sit on the bench at the German club and earn money:

“Currently it does not look like he will get more game time in the upcoming season. But he absolutely wants to play, and does not want to earn his money on the bench.”

The 27 year old was a regular for Jurgen Klopp when he was at Dortmund and only signed a new contract to stay at the German club last May. The centre back has however fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, and although he missed the last two months of last season with injury due to thrombosis in the arm, he was not a regular in the first half of the season either.

Now fully fit once again, Subotic could be on Klopp’s wishlist, especially if Mamadou Sakho is given a lengthy doping ban. UEFA’s decision on the matter is expected in the next couple of weeks. With the departure of Martin Skrtel likely as well, Subotic’s name may crop again as Klopp looks to bolster his defensive line for next season.
