Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believes that manager Jurgen Klopp is going to work the players hard during pre-season.

Although as many as 12 players from the Reds squad will be away with their national sides for the European Championships in France, Klopp is intending on getting the players fully ready to play the type of football he demands next campaign. Mignolet told Goal.com

“The gaffer wants us to work really hard in preparation for next season to make sure we are fit and can deal with the intensity and his demands. We weren’t able to train much with all the games we played – the matches were like our training – so this gives him a chance to spend more time working on everything he expects from us.”

“In the gaffer’s seven months here we’ve seen that we’re heading in the right direction and in pre-season he can put his stamp more so on us and implement his thinking more.”

Mignolet is currently away on international duty himself with Belgium and will most likely be understudy to Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois during the tournament. His own position as the Reds number one will come under threat next season after Loris Karius was purchased from German side Mainz for £4.7million. The 22 year old took the vacant number one jersey and has already said he is intending to become Liverpool’s first choice keeper. Mignolet will need to be up for the challenge as the Reds hope to improve their league form next campaign.
