Liverpool are monitoring Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard’s situation at Real Madrid, according to tribalfootball.com. The website reports that the Reds have asked to be kept informed on developments regarding the 17 year old’s future.

Former Real manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed recently that the signing of Odegaard was merely a publicity stunt orchestrated by President Florentino Perez with his subsequent single appearance in first team action during the 2014/15 season down to a request from Perez himself.

The midfielder has been playing for Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s B team, in the third division of Spanish football for the last two seasons but the player’s representative do not want the youngster playing a third season at that level. He made 38 appearances for Castilla in Segunda Division B last campaign, scoring one goal and providing seven assists.

Odegaard has expressed he is a fan of Liverpool in the past and before joining Real Madrid from Stromsgodset, he admitted speaking to Jurgen Klopp about moving to Borussia Dortmund when he was manager of the German club.
