La Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that Liverpool may have been the English team that offered €15million (£12million) for Croatia midfielder Marko Pjaca.

Pjaca had an outstanding game against Spain as Croatia beat the European Champions 2-1 without star players Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic, to go through as group winners.

The winger is still playing in his native Croatia for Dinamo Zagreb and La Gazzetta has revealed that his club side rejected a €15m bid from an an English club for the 21 year old. They suggest that the Reds were the club but Dinamo are demanding more for the player after his performances at the European Championships.

Although it is never wise to bid for a player purely on their performances at an international tournament, Liverpool’s interest in Pjaca may be more down Reds assistant manager Zeljko Buvac. The Serbian has a strong scouting network in the region and he no doubt played a part in the £5m signing Marlo Grujic from Red Star Belgrade in January. We will have to wait and see if there any further developments on Pjaca and whether other clubs take an interest after the Euros.
