Liverpool may consider alternative options after having a £7million bid rejected by Leicester City for Ben Chilwell, according to the Liverpool Echo. The Reds offered £5million plus £2million in bonuses for the 19 year old but the Foxes are holding out for £10million.

The left back is Liverpool’s priority target this summer with Jurgen Klopp looking for a young player to give some competition to the much maligned Alberto Moreno at left back, but it now looks like they may seek alternative targets to Chilwell if they believe the youngster is not value for money.

Chilwell will likely have had a good scout report from David Wagner. The Huddersfield Town manager managed the B team at Borussia Dortmund when Klopp was manager of the German club, and Chilwell made 8 appearances under Wagner for the Terriers in the Championship last season. It pretty much depends on how highly Klopp rates Chilwell to consider upping an offer to 8 figures for a player who has yet to play a Premier League game.
