Crotone Sporting Director Giuseppe Ursino has poured cold water on the prospect of signing striker Mario Balotelli from Liverpool.

Earlier this month, Crotone president Raffaele Vrenna has said there was a possibility that the Italian international could join the newly promoted Serie A side to rebuild his career but Ursino told footballscouting.it that there was no chance of Balotelli joining the Italian club:

“You must be joking. It was a joke of the President. Mario Balotelli remains where he is. Or rather, certainly he will not be playing at Crotone.”

Due to poor form and injury, AC Milan opted against signing the 25 year old from the Reds after a season long loan last campaign and the Merseyside club are seemingly struggling to find buyers. Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola fully expects the player to join up with Jurgen Klopp’s side for pre-season training. With the addition of another forward to the front line after the £30m signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton, the likelihood of the Italian staying at Anfield look even more remote, and he will most likely depart if a buyer can be found this summer.
