Crotone club president Raffaele Vrenna has reiterated his desire to bring Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli to the newly promoted Serie A club.

Vrenna has expressed previously that he would like the 26 year old to play for his team, and he says there have been other examples of players who have played for Crotone, and have revitalised their career to go on and play at this summer’s European Championships in France. He told Premium Sport TV in Italy (quotes via La Gazzetta Dello Sport):

“How did the idea of wanting Balotelli come about? Because we have revived many players who then went back to the highest levels. Just look at the the Euros where there are six players who use to play for Crotone. We could be a sort of clinic for help.”

Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola has confirmed Balotelli will return to Liverpool for preseason training in July after AC Milan opted against keeping the Italian international at the San Siro. Although controversy has surrounded the striker throughout his career, his last two years whilst at Liverpool and AC Milan have been low key with poor form and injuries meaning the player has few offers on the table currently. It is unlikely however that Crotone would have the finances to either purchase the player or pay the player’s wages if he was sent out on loan.
