Besiktas director Erdal Torunogullari has told the Corriere Dello Sport that they are not interested in signing Mario Balotelli despite the Italian striker agent’s claim to the contrary.
Mino Raiola confirmed yesterday that he had offered his client to the Turkish champions and was confident of a deal being made but when asked by the Italian newspaper about their interest in Balotelli, Torunogullari replied
“We know Raiola. he has also said that Balotelli goes to Besiktas, but our priority is to hold on to Mario Gomez . Dzeko? We wait before we know what will happen with Gomez.”
Mario Gomez is expected to leave the Turkish club this summer after his loan spell from Fiorentina ends. The German is currently on international duty at the European Championships and will not make a decision on his future until the tournament is over. The alternative target Dzeko is also unlikely to move as Roma manager Luciano Spalletti said in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport that he will give the former Manchester City striker his full faith next season.
So it could be the case that if Gomez decides not to stay, and if Dzeko stays at Roma as expected, it may be that Balotelli becomes the third option they turn to. The move will most likely be on loan initially though which won’t please Liverpool.
