The arrival of Sadio Mane at Anfield from Southampton for £30million could prove to be the end of Lazar Markovic’s troubled spell at Liverpool, according to calciomercato.it.

With Mane’s preference to play as a wide forward, he will be competing with the likes of Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino for first opportunities leaving Markovic likely to have very limited game time again next season.

The Serbian, who arrived for £20million from Benfica in the summer of 2014, was loaned out by former manager Brendan Rodgers at the start of last season to Fenerbahce, but persistent injuries meant the 22 year old was limited to 22 appearances. He scores two goals and made three assists in all competitions. It is likely that Jurgen Klopp will assess the player in pre-season before making a decision on the player but it is highly likely that he will be a first team regular with the other options at the German manager’s disposal.

Calciomercato.it suggest that Inter Milan could be a possible destination for the player. Ivan Perisic could depart the club after his performances at the Euros and Markovic is touted as a possible replacement.
