Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira is in the UK in attempt to offload attacking midfielder/forward Anderson Talisca to a Premier League club, according to Abola, and they say that an asking price has been established, and the country destination set, but they are yet to find a club.

Benfica want €25million or £21million for the Brazilian but the main obstacle to any transfer to the Premier League has been the work permit. Talisca won’t qualify to play in the UK unless Benfica prove the 22 year old is an exceptional young talent. His record for Benfica does not suggest that though.

In his two years in Portugal, Talisca has scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 53 league appearances. With such a mediocre record, the question becomes why is Vieira trying to offload the player in England rather than somewhere like Spain where these work permit restrictions don’t reply? The answer is quite simple: money. No club other than the big three in Spain could afford the £21m asking price. The most likely outcome will be Vieira having to lower his demands and selling to a smaller La Liga side.
