Thorsten Weck, a member of the ROGON Agency which advises Schalke midfielder Max Meyer has refused to comment when asked about Liverpool’s interest in the player.

Bild in Germany believes that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is tracking the 20 year old and wants the player join him at Anfield. Klopp has long been an admirer of Meyer’s abilities, according to the German newspaper, and tried to sign him when he was Borussia Dortmund manager two years ago. Weck told Bild:

“I would not like to comment.”

This could be interpreted two ways. 1) Weck is unaware of any interest but doesn’t want to deny it unless an offer comes in for the player or 2) There is interest from the Reds but can’t say any more to the press.

With Liverpool signing Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle for £25million, it is unlikely that the Reds are looking to bid for another midfielder, especially as reports in the English media have suggested a fee of  £28million for the German. That is unless they see Meyer playing in a deeper role with Wijnaldum playing in a more familiar attacking midfield position.
