Barcelona are targeting German international left back Jonas Hector, according to Sport. The Spanish newspaper believe Barca want the 26 year old as backup to full back Jordi Alba and have valued the German at €18million or £15million.
Hector has been heavily linked with Liverpool all summer, although the Liverpool Echo have said the Reds have not approached FC Cologne for the player. Reports in Germany have also suggested that Tottenham are looking at the left back, and Sport reports that Barca have been informed by Hector’s agents that there are proposals on the table from the Reds and Spurs.
For that reason, Barcelona have been encouraged to make a decision quickly on whether to move forward with a bid for Hector. He was scouted by Barca assistant sporting director Urbano Ortega in Germany’s defeat to France in the semi final of the European Championships but we will have to wait and see if they will make a formal approach for the full back.
