Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has admitted that there is interest in their central midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud from other clubs. Eberl would like to sign the 20 year old up to a new contract but he says that may prove difficult.

Gladbach recently lost key midfield lynchpin Granit Xhaka to Arsenal and seem unwilling to allow another integral player to leave this so soon summer. Eberl is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“Of course we are trying to get Mo to sign a new deal. But he has attracted a lot of interest. That makes it a difficult matter for us.”

For his part Dahoud has also stated he is fully focused on playing for Gladbach next season. The German Under 21 international has only had one full season in the first team but was impressive in his debut campaign scoring five goals and assisting nine others in 32 Bundesliga games. He feels that by staying at Gladbach he can develop his game further but money doe talk. He is said to be valued at €25million which is a sizeable fee for a player who lacks experience, but the Reds are known to invest in young talent and if a bid is made, it is sure sign that Jurgen Klopp and his backroom staff believe he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League straight away.
