Galatasaray have agreed a €2.5million (£2million) fee with Liverpool for Lucas Leiva, according to Sporx. The Turkish website believes that the offer was made by board member Levent Nazifo?lu on Wednesday last week before the coup attempt, but the move is in doubt after the turbulent developments in the country.

Lucas is reportedly one of the six players that have been told they can leave the club this summer and the 29 year old has also been subject of interest from Championship club Newcastle United, who reportedly discussed a part exchange deal for Lucas in negotiations regarding the sale of Georginio Wijnaldum to the Reds.

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez brought Lucas to English football whilst in charge at Liverpool and was said to be keen on bringing the player to St James’ Park. Discussions regarding the part exchange of Lucas in the Wijnaldum deal seemed to have come to nothing though as it has been reported that Liverpool have agreed a straight cash deal for the Dutch international believed to be £25million plus addons.
