Fiorentina have enquired about the possibility of signing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic on loan, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport. The Serbian spent last season on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahce making 21 appearances.

His time in Turkey was however hampered by a hamstring injury and with a new manager in Jurgen Klopp in charge at Anfield, the 22 year old was hopeful of reviving his Reds career under the German.

Klopp commented at the end of last season that the club lacked wingers which would have given the Serbian added hope of a possible rehabilitation under a new manager but the arrival of Sadio Mane for £30million from Southampton and Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle for £25million (with Klopp stating the Dutchman can play in a number of positions, including on the wing) suggests Markovic’s time at Anfield is up.

His old manager at Benfica Jorge Jesus wants him at Sporting Lisbon while Fenerbahce also would like to have the winger for a second spell. With Fiorentina entering the fray, it looks like that there will be a three way fight for the player.
