Lazio are trying to push their goalkeeper Federico Marchetti out of the club, according to Il Messaggero. The Italian club want Albanian keeper Etrit Berisha to become the number one to replace Marchetti as they believe the 33 year old, along with a number of players, had caused disruption in the dressing room last season.

Along with Marchetti, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito and Sporting Director Igli Tare want to get rid of Stefano Mauri and Antonio Candreva. Lazio were hoping that Juventus would be interested in Marchetti as deputy to Gianluigi Buffon but there has been no offer forthcoming. It has been a similar situation with Chelsea, where they were hoping that new manager Antonio Conte would want an understudy for Thibaut Courtois.

So they have been left with trying to push Marchetti towards Liverpool. The Reds currently only have two senior keepers in Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius after allowing both Danny Ward and Adam Bogdan to leave on loan. Whether they see the former Lazio number one as a good option for third choice keeper we will have to wait and see.
