Roma have entered the race to sign Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic on loan according to the Daily Telegraph (via Gazzetta World). The Serbian has appeared regularly in preseason under Jurgen Klopp but he is not expected to stay beyond the end of transfer window with the Reds boss favouring new signings Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum as first team regulars.

The 22 year old arrived from Benfica 2 years ago for £20million but has flattered to deceive during his time at Anfield. He failed to break in to Brendan Rodgers’ first team eleven during his first year at the club and was then loaned out to Fenerbahce last season.

A hamstring injury curtailed his playing time in Turkey but Fenerbahce are believed to be keen on a second loan spell. They will need to head off competition from Fiorentina, and Roma who have also now joined the chase as they look to strengthen their midfield after losing Miralem Pjanic to Juventus this summer.
