Liverpool have been linked with a move for former Juventus defender Martin Caceres by Fantagazzetta in Italy. The Uruguayan international is out of contract after leaving Juve at the start of the month and is available on a free transfer.
A move for the 29 year old may have been considered but with Estonia captain Ragnar Klavan close to signing for the Reds from Augsburg, it looks as though the Reds have opted against signing Caceres. The Uruguayan can however also play in either full back positions so it may be the case Jurgen Klopp is looking for a utility player at the back in addition to Klavan.
Fantagazzetta does say that the centre back’s preference would be to stay in Italy in any case so it looks as though at this point that the Reds are unlikely to make any move for the Uruguayan. Caceres spent the last five seasons at Juventus but has never been a regular in the first team.
