Inter Milan have joined Everton and Liverpool in the race for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper believe that a deal could be done for €22m or £18million for the Belgian international and they are pressing Witsel’s agent and father for a decision in the next 7 days.

Inter became the second Serie A club to be interested in Witsel after Napoli, but it is believed the Naples side are looking at Porto’s midfielder Hector Herrera as a better alternative.

Reports in Italy have consistently linked Witsel with a move to Everton as manager Ronald Koeman is a keen admirer while Liverpool have also been associated with a bid for the 27 year old, although it is well known that Udinese’s Piotr Zielinski or Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud are the priority targets for Jurgen Klopp in this summer’s transfer window as he seeks a central midfielder.
