Crotone president Raffaele Vrenna has again expressed his interest in signing Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

The Italian club have admitted their interest in the 25 year old in the past but last week the team’s sporting director Giuseppe Ursino dismissed that the club had made any enquiries about the Italian international. Vrenna has however reiterated to Gazzamercato that he would like to bring Balotelli back to Italy, and that he has had a phone call with the player’s agent Mino Raiola:

“I must admit I did make a phone call to Mino Raiola about Balotelli. At Crotone we have the ideal environment for talented young players to grow and express themselves. We could’ve been the right place to relaunch an incredible talent like Balotelli, who unfortunately is coming off two not so great seasons.”

The striker has returned to preseason training with the Reds but his future seems uncertain at Anfield. After two difficult seasons with the Reds and on loan at AC Milan, there are not many suitors for Balotelli, especially with the player’s high wages. It isn’t certain whether newly promoted Serie A side Crotone would have the finances if they wanted to sign the player either on loan or on a permanent basis.
