Liverpool and Leicester City are “ready to start negotiations” for Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to the Corriere Dello Sport, but the Serie A side are currently unwilling to negotiate.

The Argentinian started Roma’s 4-0 opening day win over Udinese, and manager Luciano Spalletti has expressed his desire to keep the 22 year old but speculation has been rife about the midfielder since he returned from an impressive loan spell at Empoli at the end of last season.

AC Milan are also believed to be tracking Paredes and the Corriere Dello Sport are reporting that a meeting will take place between Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini and Milan vice president Adriano Galliani today which suggests that Roma’s hierarchy are prepared to listen to offers for the central midfielder.

When asked yesterday about signing players before the end of the transfer window, Liverpool manager said he understood fans’ desire to see a new left back but he was more sceptical about the need for a central midfielder with both Emre Can and Lucas Leiva both nearing full fitness, which would suggest a move for Paredes isn’t his number one priority.
