Liverpool, Manchester City and Zenit St Petersburg are all interested in signing Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport. The Reds have been repeatedly linked with the Argentine throughout the summer as they seek a holding midfielder to provide competition for Emre Can.
Lucas Leiva is expected to leave the Reds after 9 years at the club with Sampdoria leading the chase for the Brazilian, and with Kevin Stewart the only other alternative to Can, the Reds have been linked with a few defensive midfielders in this transfer window.
Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic is also on the Reds’ radar according to La Gazzetta but it looks as though Paredes could be an alternative target. The 22 year old had a good loan spell at Serie A side Empoli last season, and was expected to be part of Luciano Spalletti’s plans for the new season but La Gazzetta believes the Roma manager is having second thoughts. It is being reported that Paredes has a €20million price tag with Russian side Zenit already ahead of the Reds and City in negotiations for the midfielder.
