Former Liverpool full back Jose Enrique has signed for Spanish second division side Real Zaragoza on a free transfer, the club have confirmed.

The 30 year old spent five years at Anfield after signing from Newcastle United for £7million back in 2011 when Kenny Dalglish was the Reds manager. Injuries and lack of form meant most of the last three years at the club were spent n the sidelines after being the club’s first choice left back during his first two seasons at the club.

Enrique was released from his contract in May after being told he was not part of Jurgen Klopp’s future plans, after making just three appearances in cup competitions under the Reds boss despite being fit to play. His new club Zaragoza have started the season pretty well and sit top of the Spanish second division after three matches with seven points from two wins and one draw.
