Former Liverpool full back Steve Nicol has backed current manager Jurgen Klopp to get the most from the Reds squad this season and has tipped forward Sadio Mane to follow the likes of Luis Suarez and Xabi Alonso to become the club’s “next superstar”:

Talking about his upcoming autobiography with the Liverpool Echo, he took time to talk about the current Reds side:

“Klopp for me looks like he’s a guy who gets players playing, he looks like he cares about his players. I think when that happens players respond to it. The likes of Mane, there’s no telling what he can become, he can be the next superstar that plays for Liverpool. Hopefully there’s two or three of him among that group.”

Mane’s form for Liverpool since he joined from Southampton for £30million has been excellent, scoring two goals in his first 5 league matches. He introduced himself with a spectacular goal against Arsenal on the opening day of the season, and followed that up with a goal on his home debut against Leicester City in a 4-1 victory nine days ago.

The Reds will face Derby County next, tomorrow night in the third round of the EFL Cup as they look to go one better than their final loss against Manchester City last season.
