Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan believes that goalkeeper Loris Karius is a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s footballing philosophy.

The Estonian international faced Karius when he played for Augsburg in the Bundeliga last season and he told the Liverpool Echo the three reasons why he believes the 23 year old will fit the Reds’ style of play under the German manager:

“He is always quick to come out. One time he came out really nicely when there was a one-v-one situation. He was there. We are moving forward as a whole team and as the last line we have to be higher and it is nice when you have a keeper who is able to come out like that. I can only say what he was like in the Bundesliga and what I have seen in training. He is good with his feet, he is quick coming out like you saw and he is not afraid to come out for high balls so in my eyes he is a really good keeper.”

Jurgen Klopp refused to speculate today on who would start against Hull City at the weekend. Pictures showed during the Derby match that Karius was almost Manuel Neuer like standing close to the centre circle while the Reds had the ball in the attacking third, and if the Reds are to continue with a such a high line against all their opponents (with Klopp settled on a centre back pairing in Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren),  it would suggest that Karius would get the nod as Mignolet would never consider standing so far out of his goal.
