Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that the squad must have the right attitude and application on the training pitch if they are to be rewarded with game time and better team performances in matches.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference for the game against Swansea yesterday, Klopp emphasised that intensity levels will be the key difference to improving on the pitch:

“We work together to try to have a high intensity in all parts of the game – concentration, readiness, levels, all this stuff. Every player is important for this and every player is involved. I don’t say this to keep them cool and calm – it is the truth.”

“If we stop working hard on this part of the game then we cannot make the next step that we 100% have to do. With starting line-ups we always talk about the present, the moment, but we all have to be ready for anything that can happen in the next two or three weeks.”

Klopp is expected to make only one change for the match against the Swans at the Liberty stadium with Dejan Lovren expected to replace Ragnar Klavan in the side. Loris Karius will continue in goal in place of Simon Mignolet after Klopp stated after the last match against Hull City that the German keeper will be given games to impress. Striker Daniel Sturridge has returned to full fitness but isn’t expected to displace any of the front three in Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane or Philippe Coutinho for the match.
