Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes the emotional support behind Liverpool Football Club reflects his own approach to football, and the opportunity to become manager of the Reds felt like the perfect fit.

Speaking to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland in Germany, he described the feeling of becoming Reds manager last October:

“I knew that if Liverpool came calling, it would be hard to say no. I’ve always liked the club. They represent exactly what I want from football: extreme emotion.”

Klopp also revealed that he wouldn’t rule out a return to Germany to manage as “you never as a coach” and also that he would retire from management when he reaches 60 years of age. The German is currently 49 so he still has eleven years to achieve more success as a manager.

After signing a six year contract to stay at Anfield in the summer, it looks like the majority of the rest of his career could be with the Reds, results permitting of course.

Liverpool fans certainly took to the German almost as soon as he was appointed and Klopp certainly sees the club in a similarly affectionate way. With the fans united behind the club, the focus will be on getting results right on the pitch and with 13 points from six games, things are certainly looking optimistic for this season.
