Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain centre back Presnel Kimpembe, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Writing for the Spanish newspaper, Francesc Aguilar did a piece about how PSG manager Unai Emery is bringing through young talent at the Parc des Princes. Kempembe made his debut under Laurent Blanc in 2014 but injuries and lack of playing time led to the France Under 21 being linked with a move away from the French champions this summer.

Chelsea, Monaco, Saint Etienne and the Reds were all said to be keen on the 21 year old but he is now a trusted first team player under Emery. With David Luiz sold back to Chelsea and Marquinhos away the Olympics, Kimpembe took his opportunity to start more matches and he has made seven appearances already this campaign.

In July, Mundo Deportivo reports, Kimpembe refused to sign a new deal but now, with Emery trusting his abilities, he is prepared to sign a new contract to extend his stay at PSG until 2021.
