Liverpool full back Connor Randall says he is waiting patiently for more chances in the first team under manager Jurgen Klopp. The 20 year old made seven appearances under the German last season but has not been involved in the first team so far this campaign.

Randall has been playing for Liverpool’s Under 23 side under Michael Beale and is quoted by the Daily Star as saying that Klopp has just told him to wait for his chance:

“[Klopp] hasn’t said much other than to just keep patient. You’re training with [the first team] every day so it’s great you’re learning from the players and learning each day and improving. It’s important that I’ve just got to make sure I’m fit and ready if the chance does come. There’s a lot of lads I’ve played with, especially the ones at Melwood, that play when they can. “I think that’s vital because you’ve got to get your minutes in and there’s nothing like match fitness.”

In preseason, Randall’s under 23 team mate Trent Alexander-Arnold seemed to have moved ahead of him in the pecking order in terms of those likely to breakthrough to play in the first team this year. With no senior reserve right back in the squad, it will be interesting to see what decision Jurgen Klopp makes on a replacement if first choice Nathaniel Clyne is sidelined at any point this season due to injury or suspension.
