Sporting Lisbon manager Jorge Jesus could not hide his frustration with on loan Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic during his substitute appearance against Estoril on Friday night, according to Record.

The Serbian came on for Bas Dost, who had already scored two goals, in the 73rd minute, and with Sporting 3-0 up, everything should have been plain sailing for the Jesus’s team, but two late goals from Estoril, either side of a Andre goal for Sporting, meant the game ended 4-2.

The Portuguese newspaper say Jesus could be see shouting at Markovic as he failed to press, and defend aggressively to recover the ball. After the match Jesus commented on the 22 year old’s form. He feels that the player still lacks rhythm after missing out on the start of the season with Sporting, and after missing a large part of last season with a hamstring injury:

“[Markovic] is one of those who arrived at the end of the market and is still out of it. He was not competing, and almost did not play in Turkey. He had an injury in the last two or three months of his time there. I have given minutes [to him] to see if can get the rhythm.”

Highlighting players he feels are not yet reaching their potential, Jesus also named Markovic along with on loan Arsenal winger Joel Campbell.
