Liverpool full back Trent Alexander-Arnold says he is learning from the best right back in the country at the moment in Nathaniel Clyne.

The England international has been a consistent performer ever since he arrived from Southampton for £12.5million two years ago and Alexander-Arnold, whose own career looks set to take off, says he is trying to learn everything he possibly can from the 25 year old in training. He told the Liverpool Echo in an interview:

“I’m trying to watch him and learn how good he is because he’s probably the best right back in the league for me, defensively and going forward. He’s so consistent in everything he does. I want to still play the way I play but if I can learn things from him then I’ll try and do that every day.”

Alexander-Arnold himself is certainly one to look out for as well. After playing a part in Liverpool’s preseason preparations with the senior team, he has been widely tipped to become the next player from the Academy to breakthrough into the first team, alongside promising midfield starlet Ovie Ejaria. If Clyne does get injured or sidelined with injury in the coming weeks and months, you may get a glimpse of the 17 year old in first team action.
