Former Liverpool centre back Phil Babb has questioned Reds goalkeeper’s Loris Karius’s decision making on crosses after his performance against West Brom on Saturday.

The German miscalculated coming for a cross and had to save a shot at the back post, forcing a corner that led to West Brom’s goal. Talking to the Daily Express, Babb said:

“I don’t want to be too critical, but I think there’s a little feeling around Karius now. Some of his judgement calls, certainly coming out to claim crosses, and his decision making is wrong. That’s what led to this [the West Brom goal].”

In his pre-match press conference yesterday ahead of tonight’s match against Tottenham in the EFL Cup, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp backed Karius as the Reds number one keeper. Former custodian Simon Mignolet will however come back into the starting eleven for today’s game as he looks to prove himself in the cup competitions.

Karius meanwhile has now started the last four league gamesadn will be in the starting lineup for the match against Crystal Palace at the weekend, where the 23 year old will surely be tested from crosses once again as Palace’s wingers provide ammunition in the air for striker Christian Benteke.
