Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille could enter the race to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, according Sport.fr. The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo states that the Frenchman will be sold in January and it looks like a return to France is on the cards.

Writing for Sport.fr Sebastian Crouzol says that there maybe an opportunity for Sakho to return to his former club PSG. Sakho was the club’s youngest ever captain at 17 and is still held in high regard there.

There are questions over the futures Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe (who has been linked to the Reds) with both centre backs involved in contract negotiations with the French champions. With David Luiz having also departed from the club in August, there could be room for a return for Sakho.

Marseille meanwhile have recently been bought by an American businessman Frank McCourt who also owns the Major League Baseball franchise Los Angeles Dodgers. Sport.fr suggests that McCourt could use his Baseball connections with Fenway Sports Group, who own Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox, to push through a transfer for Sakho.
