Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has asked the Reds board to sign Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia in the January transfer window, according to transfermarketweb.

The website says that Klopp is convinced that the 23 year old can help improve Liverpool’s midfield and wants the French international to join the Merseyside club when the window reopens.

Kondogbia has had a difficult season in Italy under new coach Frank De Boer. The Inter boss took the midfielder off after just 28 minutes against Bologna in a league match at the end of last month, and has been benched for the subsequent two matches against Roma and Udinese.

Inter however suffered defeats in those two matches and pressure is already growing on De Boer. If the Dutchman leaves, Kondogbia could well be reinstated to the team under a different manager so Klopp maybe hoping De Boer survives until at least January so he can land the Frenchman either on loan or a permanent basis.

Kondogbia joined from Monaco in a £25million deal back in June 2015 so a permanent transfer certainly would not be a cheap one for the Reds if they are indeed interested in the French international.
