Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refused to talk more about defender Mamadou Sakho’s future at the club after an exchange with a French reporter at yesterday’s pre-match press conference.

Sakho has not featured in Liverpool’s first team since being provisionally banned for a doping violation back in April. After disciplinary issues on the tour of the US during preseason and then hitting out at the club’s handling of the situation on social media, the centre back has been restricted to matches in Michael Beale’s Under 23 side so far this season.

After refusing to go out on loan in August, Sakho’s future at Anfield looks uncertain, and after playing against Everton U23s in the mini derby at the weekend which effectively rules him out of the match against Tottenham tonight, Klopp would only say that the matter had been dealt with when asked by the French media:

“We spoke together and that’s it. From my side everything is done and now we can carry on. I hope you didn’t make the long journey here for this question because the answer is I’ve said everything about this already. You could have read it in English newspapers. I’ve said everything about this in my talk with Mama. There is nothing else to say about it.Maybe it’s my English, you can try again but the answer is the same. There is nothing to say.”

With Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren Klopp’s first choice centre back pairing and with Ragnar Klavan and the fit again Joe Gomez providing backup, Sakho’s future with the Reds looks rather bleak.
