Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has talked about the role that religion plays in his life. A practising Christian, Klopp has previously talked about his faith at Borussia Dortmund and how it can be difficult in the cut throat world of football.

In a new interview with German newspaper Bild however, the Reds boss expressed more openly about its importance to him:

“Faith leads me through life. It is my rip cord, It’s my guideline. It is infinitely important to me.”

Bild also quotes Klopp comparing how Christian churches have parallels in the sports world:

“There are beautiful places, places such as a clubhouse. Where you go in and meet the right people.”

Klopp will be hoping that his Liverpool side will not need any help from an external power when they meet Tony Pulis’s West Brom side this weekend. The Baggies manager’s record against the Reds is a good one, and no doubt he will set up his side in a similar vein to how Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United did on Monday.

It will be up to the Reds to be patient in breaking down West Brom’s deep defensive line and ensure that they concede as few set pieces as possible.
