Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolfsburg are the four clubs waiting in the wings if contract negotiations between Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli break down, according to Il Mattino.

The Italian newspaper believe Insigne’s agent and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis are locked in talks as they try to compromise on the player’s contract demands. Insigne is demanding €4.5million per season to stay at the San Paulo but De Laurentiis is only willing to pay €3.5million, leading to stand off between the player and his club.

The winger’s performance against Besiktas in the Champions League mid week did not help matters. He missed a penalty as the Serie A club lost 3-2 to the Turkish champions at home, being booed off when substituted by his own supporters.

It looks likely Insigne’s agent is using interest from abroad as a bargaining chip in negotiations with De Laurentiis. The Napoli owner is a notoriously tough negotiator and is unlikely to blink first in these negotiations. Speculation over Insigne’s is likely to continue over the coming months.
