Liverpool could be set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe with the player saying he wants to stay at the French champions and sign a new contract.

The 21 year old has been linked with the Reds over the past few months and French newspaper Le Parisien even suggested a move to Anfield was a possibility earlier this week. The player has however told Telefoot (quotes via free.fr) that he is waiting impatiently for talks to be concluded on a new deal:

“I’m still in negotiations. We are in talks. I expect answers. I want to stay and extend as soon as possible. I would like it to go a little faster. If I sign fast enough, I will have a little more confidence.”

Kimpembe has started more regularly under new manager Unai Emery this season after David Luiz was allowed to leave the club for Chelsea in August. He has started seven of the club’s nine league games, but has not featured in PSG’s Champions League campaign so far, being on the bench for their 1-1 draw against Arsenal, and not even in the squad for the matches against Ludogorets and FC Basel.
