Former Liverpool player Ronny Rosenthal believes striker Divock Origi needs to leave Liverpool as soon as possible to get game time. The Belgian has not started a league match for the Reds so far this season with Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge being the preferred choices up front.

Now working in his capacity as a football agent, Rosenthal told VoetbalBelgie.be that Origi needs matches to prove himself and would be better served going out on loan:

“If you receive only five minutes of playing time, then it’s damn hard to try and play football in the spotlight. For Liverpool, it is a luxury that they can leave a player with such talent on the bench but for Origi himself there is only one way out:. a loan move as soon as possible.”

Origi has scored in both games he has started this season, in the EFL Cup ties against Burton Albion and Derby County, but he hasn’t managed a goal in the Premier League after coming off the bench for seven of the nine league matches so far this campaign.

He will likely get another start tomorrow night against Tottenham in the EFL Cup but with Danny Ings left out of the Under 23 mini derby against Everton at the weekend, he could also feature versus Spurs and could even possibly be picked ahead of the Belgian striker.
