Valencia have joined Liverpool in the hunt for Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne, according to calciomercato.com. The La Liga side’s new coach Cesare Prandelli, the former manager of Italy, is said to be a big fan of the 25 year old after selecting him in his squad for the World Cup in Brazil back in 2014.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has also been reported in the Italian media to be keen to sign Insigne in the January transfer window with the Reds willing to pay the play €6m a year after the Italian fell out with his clubs fans after negotiations over a new contract stalled.

Insigne’s agent and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis have been involved in the stand off in recent weeks as De Laurentiis refuses to give in to Insigne’s wage demands.

Things came to a head on Thursday when Insigne missed a penalty in the 3-2 defeat to Besiktas in the Champions League and was booed off after being substituted in the second half.
