We reported yesterday that a Liverpool scout was in attendance at the match between Benfica and Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night, and it now seems that the Reds could have been tracking the Portuguese side’s young winger Goncalo Guedes.

Two newspapers in Portugal, the Record and Abola both believe Guedes was being watched by Valencia at the Champions League match but the Daily Star also suggest that Manchester United and Liverpool’s representatives were there for the same reason.

Guedes has been at Benfica ever since he joined the club’s youth ranks in 2005. The winger went on to make his debut as a 16 year old for Benfica’s B side in the Segunda Liga match against Porto B back in April 2014.

Since then he has broken through into Benfica’s first team, and has become a regular in the side over the last two seasons. He has also subsequently made his full international debut for Portugal against Russia in November 2015.
