Liverpool are bracing themselves for a €30million offer from AC Milan for striker Daniel Sturridge in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercatoweb.it.

The Italian website’s sources claim that Milan boss Vincenzo Montella is a big fan of Sturridge’s technical ability and would like the 27 year old at the San Siro. The report does however state that any bid would depend on forward Carlos Bacca also leaving the club.

Despite Jurgen Klopp stating in a pre-match press conference today that the England international is happy at Anfield, a report in the Mirror on Wednesday suggested the forward wants to leave the club.

Calciomercatoweb say that Klopp has already given his go ahead to any sale if Sturridge wants to leave. Whether there is any truth to that, time will tell. The Reds will not want to lose more attacking options in January with Sadio Mane leaving to play in the African Cup of Nations.

If Sturridge were to leave, Klopp would have to rely on Divock Origi as the only alternative to Roberto Firmino up front with Danny Ings ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. The Reds have however been linked with the likes of FC Rostov’s Sardar Azmoun and Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams as potential signings to shore up the attack.
