The German newspaper Express report Liverpool may need to pay €30million in the January transfer window for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud to head off rival bids from other clubs

A clause in the 20 year old’s contract is said to allow the player to leave for only €10million in the final year of his contract, which can be triggered after the 30th June 2017.

The Express say that so far Dahoud has ‘turned down’ any approach from Gladbach to extend his current deal and remove the release clause. The paper believes this could be because the German Under 21 international has already had his head turned by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

With that in mind, the Bundesliga side may have no choice but to sell in the January transfer window where they can command a much higher transfer fee. There has been huge interest in Dahoud with both Juventus and Manchester City believed to be particularly interested in the midfielder.
