As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has received another injury set back ahead of our next two games.

The German boss revealed that the England international is definitely out of the games against West Ham this weekend and Middlesbrough during next week as the fixtures begin to come thick and fast.

Indeed, we could even be without the forward for the game against Everton next weekend with Philippe Coutinho already out for a considerable amount of time.

Klopp said when asked about the possible return date of the forward:

“[I have] no real idea. Until now he didn’t train, on the pitch maybe today, He’s starting football work, on the pitch, not with the team just with the rehab coach. So no idea when he is back.”

The boss then went on to say:

“If he is not in training with the team at the moment, we don’t have to think about him for West Ham, not think about him for Middlesbrough but I have no idea.”

“Now you can write, ‘what’s the game after Middlesbrough? Everton’ – oh! (laughing).”

A typically laid back response from the gaffer, then, but surely he must be a bit concerned deep down.

With Sturridge and the aforementioned Coutinho out injured the Reds are very short up top at the moment with the likes of Danny Ings also on the sidelines.

All we’re hoping for at the moment, then, is that Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino stay fit or we’ll have serious problems thereafter.

Should we be looking at a new striker, Reds? Let us know below!
