Speaking to the print version of Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via The Express,) Uruguayan international Matias Vecino has revealed he would like to play in England one day, mentioning Liverpool as the club he has always liked most.

The player has forced himself into the Fiorentina side this season with him making 14 appearances so far but admits that one day he would like to try football in this country – ideally with the Reds.

Vecino, primarily a central midfielder, can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a defensive player in that area and that would make him highly versatile in Jurgen Klopp’s system.

Of course, he’d follow a certain Luis Suarez in being a Uruguayan international to wear the famous red jersey and if he’s half as good as the striker was in terms of commitment and talent, we’d be getting a top player.

The Florence-based midfielder said of his plans:

“My dream has always been to play in England, but I don’t know whether I will be here [Fiorentina] until I am 30 or 35.

“I always liked Liverpool and I would like to follow [Marcos] Alonso and many other team-mates of my national team.”
