Speaking in his pre-match press conference (as quoted by Sports Mole,) Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Jordan Henderson is playing through pain at the moment.
The Reds go into the game against Southampton on Wednesday night knowing they must score to get themselves back into the tie.
They trail the Saints 1-0 from the first leg and a win would see us face either Hull City or Manchester United for a shot at a record ninth League Cup win.
First, though, it’s the men from the south-coast and whilst the Reds have no new injury worries, the skipper is currently managing a niggling injury that kept him out earlier this month.
The boss said:
“The rest is how I said – you don’t use the phrase ‘bite on his teeth’ [grit his teeth]? You know what it means, it’s not the moment to feel nothing, he always feels a little bit, but he can cope with it.”
The skipper did look out of sorts against Swansea City last time out with a number of wayward passes and so the hope must be that he’ll be closer to full fitness for this one.
