As quoted by The Daily Mail, Lucas Leiva could still leave the Reds this month, despite having looked like he was going to stay.

The Brazilian has been a loyal servant for a long time for the Reds and is seen as one of our most senior members of the squad.

He is, however, past his best and that has been reflected in his lack of game time over the last few seasons.

Certainly, this year he’s barely featured at all in the league whilst he’s made some cup appearances and so it would make sense if he did want to move on.

The midfielder has got the likes of Inter Milan interested in him according to the report and such a move to Italian football may suit Lucas.

He’s never been blessed with pace and that has caught him out with Jurgen Klopp in charge of the Reds so Serie A football could be right up his street.

He said over his future:

“I have always been very honest in terms of the trust I have with the manager.

“I had a few options to go. I have to think about my long-term. I know I don’t have many years left here. I have to start to think about it. Liverpool is a place I love, there is no doubt about that.

“But this is more about thinking about my future as well. Game time, things like this. I have to deal with it. The manager and I have a fantastic relationship. I have learned a lot from him and he is someone I appreciate working with. I am learning all the time.”
